Journey

How I love the long winding road
That snaked between dry stone walls across the moors,
Golden shadows restless in the breeze
And dance in the forgotten refuge of loneliness.

Now I remember the dark, chilling place
With rolled up sleeves, a fierce resolve
That the journey on all I have staked
Should find my soul finally at peace.

  7. I like the opening stanza in particular, Alan. I can picture the winding road through the moors. (I remember being quite excited to actually experience a moor when visiting England--books always made them sound so mysterious!) Glad you found your soul at peace.

  13. This is wonderful ... two journeys - one bucolic and the other a 'forced march' toward solace. This is great Alan!
